Today’s hottest Pinoy pop bands share the limelight in one show not just to jam, but also to share their Cinderella stories from anonymity to fame! Today, Jan. 24, 11 p.m. "Ali" presents music’s sizzling best – Orange & Lemons, Cueshé and Parokya ni Edgar in focus.
Hear the story of Cueshe and their pursuit of stardom. The gifted Cebuanos pushed their luck from Cebu all the way to Metro Manila, carrying nothing but guitars and a stubborn determination. Also, know what happened in that six–year hiatus before Orange and Lemons were granted the elusive big break. Tough times hit them hard, leading to disbandment and the band’s original members. But true talent can’t be denied. Now, their musical flair is rivaled only by their popularity. Parokya ni Edgar on the other hand, remains intact even as their colleagues have parted ways. "Ali!" follows Parokya from their homes to their gig in Parañaque and gets a glimpse of a day in the Life of pop stars.
Aside from that, ABC has other great public affairs treats lined up for this week:
On Thursday, "Dokyu" presents "Romeo Must Rock," a documentary on underground rock artist Romeo Lee and his band "Brown Briefs." The film was produced and directed by Romeo’s own brother, Roxlee. In the age of pretty boy bands and designer–label clothes, Lee is the epitome of the anti star, with his wild persona and ukay–ukay fashion. Likewise, Romeo’s music challenges everything popular, consumerist and synthetic.
On Friday, "Real Stories" shifts the limelight on Chinoys in light of the coming Chinese New Year. From forecasts and fortune charms for the year of the dog, the rise of Binondo, to stories of successful Chinoys in the fields of business, arts, entertainment, education, medicine and politics, "Real Stories" builds a credible summation of the Chinese influence in our modern Philippine society.
All these quality public affairs show, weeknights 11 p.m. on ABC– Iba tayo!
