The UP College of Medicine is holding a grand scientific symposium as part of their year-long celebration of its 100 years in medical education, research and service. The symposium, with the theme "Emergencies and disasters: Pearls for the 21st century primary health care provider" was opened Jan. 22 at the Quirino Grand Stand. The event was attended by Manila Mayor Lito Atienza, Department of Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and Major General Glenn Rabonza of the National Disaster Coordinating Council. The symposium will run up to Jan. 25 at the Manila Hotel.
The symposium offers scientific sessions and certificate courses which will equip medical practitioners, paramedical professions, and the general public with knowledge and skills to handle emergencies and disaster situations and, curb the number of lives lost and properties destroyed.
