As part of the confidence-building measures between the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), a delegation from the International Monitoring Team (IMT) and the MILF visited yesterday a Muslim preacher who is being detained for alleged terrorist acts at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame, Quezon City.
IMT deputy head of mission Lt. Admiral Mohammad Som Bin Ibrahim, representing IMT chief of mission Maj. Gen. Dato Pahlawan Soheimi Bin Abbas, Chief Supt. Rosdi Bin Mahmud, IMT member; and Von Al-Haq, chairman of the MILF’s Coordinating Committee for Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH) and members of their delegation, checked on the condition of Ustadhz Abdulgani Pagao, whom elements of the PNP Criminal Investigation Division Group (CIDG) arrested on Jan. 17 near the Awang Airport in Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao. Pagao is a member of the MILF.
Former Gen. Ramon Santos, government CCCH chairman, who accompanied the visitors to Camp Crame, assured them that Pagao would be treated well and no physical harm would come to him in his detention cell.
