Responsive to the needs of the times
After realizing the importance of a College education and the limited numbers of schools providing for the middle class who cannot afford expensive private schools, Dr. Chua and some of his philanthropic friends decided to establish a college that could support talented and bright students who cannot afford to get a tertiary education—the MANILA BUSINESS COLLEGE (MBC).

PRESENT TIMES
For the love of helping and molding people to become professional workers and entrepreneurs, Dr. Thomas Chua conceptualized Manila Business College in the year 2000.
Duly accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Philippines, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Bureau of Immigration to accept foreign students, Manila Business College continues to provide services that would benefit its students.
These programs include the "MBC Language Center Intensive Pronunciation Workshop" that is designed to teach special sound alphabet in order to distinguish positively each English sound and pronounce it correctly. Here, systematic drilling on consonantal and vowel segments (both familiar and familiar), diphthongs, and schwa sounds are taught. The "Effective Oral Communication" on the other hand is a course to refine oral communication skills. Here, students are trained to express their ideas effectively, organize their thoughts clearly, use their logical and persuasive patterns of expressions, analyze styles of exposition and identify the style that is most suitable to a particular person. In the "Advance English," the Mastery of English idioms, enhancement of vocabulary, exercises in writing short compositions, speech drills to improve pronunciation, stress, rhythm, and intonation are taught. MBC also offers "Chinese (Mandarin)" which is an intensive course that aims to enable students to carry on practical conversations related to common situations in everyday life. The course uses "pinyin" (romanization based on the International Phonetic System) and introduces the simplified form of Chinese characters. Some exposure to Chinese traditional culture are also integrated with language teaching.
The MBC Center for the Arts and Cultural Development on the other hand offers "ESL: English As A Second Language" for foreign students to help them find new understanding of the English Language of the host country where English is widely spoken. The ESL Program is designed to provide students' English-speaking skills in only 30 hours of training. It includes complete instructions, strategies, demonstrations and exercises that will help quickly and easily improve pronunciation and speaking skills.
MBC also offers "Basic Acting Workshop" that aims to create new stars for movies (cinemas) and television. This is an intensive four-week course on acting. Other special programs and workshops offered are the "Social And International Dancing" where kids six to 66 years old are taught how to dance; and the "Voice And Singing Workshop" that has 12 session of high intensity voice training that will launch your singing career here and abroad. The courses offer an opportunity to audition on Radio/ Studio/ Television and Bands to deserving graduate students.
The English for Beginners, on the other hand, introduces Basic survival English—all the English needed to perform the function of communicating with others. Students learn greetings, asking for information, describing feelings, expressing likes and dislikes, etc. and English Language Fluency program that aims to stimulate speech patterns in English through functional exchange, speech drills, cyclical grammatical projections and regular review exercises. This is designed for students who understand English but lack the confidence and practice necessary to speak clearly and naturally in English.
In line of providing services and assistance to those who are deserving and hardworking students, Manila Business College has launched the K.E.I. Program or "Knowledge Experience Income" primarily aimed to provide knowledge, experience, and income to students and uplift their lives. The K.E.I. Program is a synergy of three phases of learning: Knowledge, Experience, and Income. While traditional teaching lets you go through each of these phases one at a time, the KEI Program fast-tracks learning by synergizing these three phases simultaneously.
This program is the first of its kind in the Philippines. It is MBC’s new approach to business education that combines scholastic and professional learning with practical and actual business experiences to teach and encourage students to become outstanding, financially independent entrepreneurs.
For those who dream of pursuing their education but are in dire financial situation, the KEI Program presents an opportunity for them to continue on with their studies and earn income at the same time.
The KEI Program is primarily for those people who want to go to College but for financial incapacity cannot. It is for High School graduates, College undergrads, out-of-school youths and adults.
It is a means by which the MBC hopes realize its dream for every Filipino family to have at least one child to finish College. And the only way to make this program work for the student is for the family to work together.
The KEI Program is also a wake-up call not only for every Filipino family, but also for the civil society, the government, and other sectors of the society, that each of us has the social responsibility to work together in nation building through education for a progressive and peaceful country.
In promulgating our noble program we will be conducting teacher Advisor’s Orientation at the selected public schools to become PILOT SCHOOLS in order to better serve the Filipino studentry.
Presently, Manila Business College offers various scholarships such as MBC-Philippine Air Force (PAF) Scholarship, Manila Barangay Scholarship (for Barangay Officials, family and Barangay recommendees), Academic Scholarship, Children of Educators Scholarship, and Local Government Scholarship.
