SOME NON-CALORIFIC LIF OF SWEETENERS

WHAT makes a makeup line so delectable? The sweetest colors and the pearliest finishes. The Body Shop’s forthcoming spring trend, Virtual Candy, contrasts sheer and psychedelic colors for that bridge look between fall’s dark glamour and summer’s perky, bright palettes. Creamy yet iridescent eye colors, sheer bases and blush, and glossy, metallic shades of pink, epitomize a fresh, clean yet edgy look to welcome the new year.

We like the Touchpad Bronzing in Caramel (02), applied on the cheeks for a sheer, shimmery finish. Although packaged in a compact, it is actually a light, liquid foundation that dries as it is swept on the cheeks. A mesh covers the cake for controlled application. Its light, golden tones produce a subtle radiance, with flecks of metallic glitter catching the light for a shimmering effect. Best applied to the apple of the cheeks using the fingertips or a sponge. It also can be applied to the cheekbones and/or the brow bones for iridescent highlights.

The Whipped Water shadows, in toffee, blue mint and chocolate, are mousse formulations that adhere well to the lids, with the base colors contrasted with hints of metallic sparkle for subtle shine. Toffee is a gold shade with flecks of pink and bronze (probably best for nighttime), blue mint contrasts light green with a silver sparkle and chocolate is deep brown with a golden shimmer (perfect for officewear). The creamy textures are ideal for applying soft washes of color on the eyes. As a bonus, the shadows are formulated with grapeseed and jojoba oil for moisturizing and vitamins A and E.

Gloss vixens will like Lip Prisms, which gives off a holographic effect. There are two absolutely yummy pinkish shades, Rose and Blush. Layer one over the other for full-on lip glow.

Virtual Candy will be available at The Body Shop in February. The Body Shop branches are located at the Alabang Town Center, Eastwood, Glorietta 2, Greenbelt 4, Green Hills Shopping Center, Pavillion, Market-Market, Powerplant, Robinson Malls, Shangri La Plaza, SM Malls, Sta. Lucia Mall, The Podium and Duty Free Philippines-Terminal 1.
