Addressing the need for constant IT infrastructure availability, RCBC Savings Bank (RSB), recently acquired American Power Conversion’s (APC) InfraStuXure to ensure high availability for services provided by its in-house data center. This move was meant to enhance RSB’s on-line tellering and loan systems, ATM, network, server, PBX, e-mail and Internet capabilities for its branches. In line with this, the bank also underwent systems integration and branch rationalization with its mother bank, Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation.
RCBC Savings Bank has 110 business centers, 12 consumer lending centers and six cash centers. The bank started using APC in 1997 for its desktop and telecom equipment protection.
Allan Dolores, technical support and engineering department head, enthuses that RSB placed a premium on APC’s complete technology offerings that will "enable us to support our data center with ease, especially in the area of maintenance." APC also came out as the frontrunner because of its solutions’ expandability, design and modularity."
"Even though our business centers only operate five times a week, 24x7 connectivity and availability of the entire IT infrastructure is still crucial because as business resumes at the start of the week, IT systems must already operate at full capacity," said Dolores. RSB likewise enjoyed guaranteed replacement of parts, complete protection, expandability and easy customization to meet our user requirements."
"We have experienced the efficiency of the APC products and we would like to have that kind of reliability for years to come. APC solutions have definitely brought our comfort level with regards to IT infrastructure management to a new high," said Dolores.
Ian dela Rosa, enterprise account manager for APC said: "We’re very happy with our partnership with RSB and with them being our first Realtime InfraStuXure Awardee, we hope to see more financial services companies looking and mirroring the success of RSB’s InfraStuXure implementation.
A testament of RSB’s satisfaction is their plans to purchase APC’s cooling systems in the near future.
