"This event will launch the quest for the Filipino’s choice of car and motorcycle models for 2006. We are encouraging all enthusiasts and buyers to come, compare models with all dealers in a single venue and vote for their choice," said Ray Butch Gamboa, chairman and CEO of Sunshine Television, organizer of the event.

Featured in the event are a vast majority of car models from Ford, Honda, Isuzu, Toyota, Mazda, Nissan, Volvo, Mercedes Benz, CATS Motors Inc., and PGA Cars’ Porsche.

Interested buyers can test drive the cars and Honda motorcycles along a specified route. The event will also feature modified cars from private clubs of Honda Civics and Toyota Vios as well as Ducati motorcycles. The venue is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday the 28th and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday the 29th.

Anyone can vote in each of the 12 categories manufacturers will be vying for the 2006 Model of the Year Award. Cars compete in sub-compact, compact, mid-size and large sedans, sports cars, AUVs, compact, mid-size and large SUVs, mini and full-size vans, pickups. The overall winner, the model with the most votes will be awarded the "2006 Petron Xtra Auto Focus People’s Choice Automobile of the Year" award.

Those who wish to participate can either vote through SMS, or by logging on to the Auto Focus website. Ballots will also be available at the event venue.

"This is the first time in the history of the awards that motorcycles were included in the show. The motorcycle industry in the Philippines has increased in the past years and we felt that this was the right time to include it with its own categories," said Gerry Aquino, project director for the event.
