TIGAON, Camarines Sur — Acting on the complaints of hundreds of residents and barangay officials of three villages of Tigaon and Ocampo towns, Gov. L-Ray F. Villafuerte promptly dispatched the other day a team from the province engineer’s office to undertake emergency repair work on a vital road here.
Villafuerte’s action man, Ricky Magtoto, immediately directed the provincial engineer’s office to send heavy equipment such as a road grader, dump truck and a payloader to the area.
Tigaon Mayor Elmo Bombase met with Barangay Chairmen Cito Pacis and German Quingquing of Consocep, Gaaw, and and Mabalodbalod, respectively, to tap barangay volunteersto assist personnel of the provincial engineer’s office in doing the emergency repair of the badly damaged road from Mabalodbalod all the way to Consocep, a major tourist destination at the foot of Mt. Isarog where the famous Tumagiti Falls is located.
The slopes of Mt. Isarog are fertile areas that are abundantly planted to corn, sugar cane, palay, and the world-famous abaca that is now the focus of Mayor Bombase’s rehabilitation and replanting program.
Hundreds of commuters, mostly high school and elementary students, are hiking every day six kilometers of the badly damaged road that was eroded by rainwater cascading from Mt. Isarog, prompting transport operators to stop their operations in the area.
