FAITH students showcase the benefits of technology in MSIT celebration
spacer

A huge festival of mathematics, science, and IT kicked off yesterday and will run until February 3.

The MSIT Week will feature a wide range of in- campus and public events to highlight the importance of basic research to the economy and our day-to-day lives with the theme "Make Things Happen through Math, Science and IT." The event, organized by the Unified School, will focus on activities for FAITH students and partner schools. It aims not only to persuade young people that science is exciting and rewarding, but also to develop multiple intelligences among students.

The Grade School Department organized a Damath Contest last January 16, while the Robotics Exhibition started last January 23. The Science Experiment Marathon opened alongside the festival kick off.

All high school levels are also involved in the celebration. PowerPoint presentations will be prepared by the freshmen while a CAI (Computer Aided Instruction) Programming Contest will be held for the sophomores.

Robotics, which is one of the flagship programs of the school is also a vital part of the exhibit for the third year. The juniors will emphasize various uses of robots in modern day living. It aims to address the need for research among our students, being part of the curriculum.

A special robotics exhibit will also be shown for the FACIL partner schools under the leadership of the former three-time National Robotics Champion coach, Merlina Placino. The seniors on the other hand will compete in the Web Page Design Contest.

The fundamental role of math and arts in all aspects of science will be celebrated in the invitational MSIT Quiz Bee and Group Art Contest, which will be participated by different elementary partner schools on February 1.

Finally, an exciting "Battle of the Bands" for the music lovers will be presented in the last day of the celebration as the culminating activity.

This is one of the most anticipated activities of the students because the juniors and the seniors will compose original songs about the benefits of Science, Mathematics and ICT in our life. The students will use music to demonstrate new ways of communicating the different disciplines designed to stimulate greater interest among their peers and the public.
