ROSARIO, BATANGAS — Blanche Racing stamped its class anew as Walter Pazon and Leo Joel Cordero ruled their respective events in the third leg of the recent 2005 Red Horse-PCSO National Drag Racing Championship Series at the BRC Drag Strip here.
The 27-year-old Pazon, aboard his Honda Hatchback, prevailed in the Quick 8 division, clocking 12.289 to lead an impressive 1-2 finish for Blanche squad. Teammate Sheldon Chua was a close second in 12.890
It was another 1-2 finish for Blanche in the pro class as Cordero also nipped Chua in a thrilling race witnessed by hundred of flag-waving fans. Cordero clocked 13.279.
Group N top driver Sonny de Torres was hoping to break Blanche’s supremacy but suffered a misfortune when his new clutch broke down just before the competition proper.
"We’re really looking forward to making it third in a row and we even bought this new clutch worth R30,000. Unfortunately, it broke down just before the race," rued De Torres.
Winning the other divisions were Danes Sarmiento and Romeo Manuel Jr. of Pit 21, and Bienvenido Ocampo of Orthodox Racing.
Sarmiento emerged champion in the Sportsman class with a time 15.178 seconds, beating Teddy Manguiat of TMC Motor Works by the slimmest of margin.
Manuel ruled the Hotstreet division with 16.718 seconds with Randy Barraza finishing second (17.172). Ocampo topped the Thunder class after turning back Bong de la Cruz.
