Gmail is a free, search-based webmail service that includes more than 2,500 megabytes (2.5 gigabytes) of storage. The backbone of Gmail is a powerful Google search engine that quickly finds any message an account owner has ever sent or received. That means there's no need to file messages in order to find them again.  Best of all, its FREE.

Since Gmail is still in Beta, the site does not offer any registration.  To get a Gmail account, you have to be invited by someone who already has one.  But now, Google allows an interested user to sign up for an account using their mobile phones.  No more invitation from existing users.  Simply visit: https://www.google.com/accounts/SmsMailSignup1

The procedure is so simple, it only takes 3 steps and you will have your own new or extra Gmail account. 

Step 1:  Simply enter your mobile phone number and Google will send you a text message with an invitation code to create your account.  You will be asked to enter your location, mobile number and a computer generated code (use to avoid bots).

Step 2:  After clicking the "Send Code" button in step 1, you will receive your invitation code on your mobile phone in just a few seconds.  The next step is for you to enter your invitation code sent to your mobile phone. 

Step 3:  You're ready to create your account.  You will be required to enter your First Name, LastName, Desired Login Name (xxx@gmail.com), Password, Re-enter password and a couple of more information.  Then click the Create Account button.

That's it.  You will be redirected to the Introduction to Gmail page.  To sign in to your Gmail account, go to http://mail.google.com and you can start using Gmail.  Congratulations!
