The Great Upland Gastrologue:
After a pool of food writers from different newspapers and magazines and I finished covering a Greek taverna along Tagaytay Road one warm December Sunday afternoon last year—and failed to sample most of the specialties of the restaurant—I was really hungry for lunch, and decided to work my way to the city proper to satisfy my hunger. Although I was scheduled to visit Chef Antonio Escalante for dinner at his place, I was glad I had time for lunch; I discovered what I think is the best cheese pizza outside Metro Manila.

The Power of Salt
Salt is a table ingredient that is considered to be very important and indispensable, yet despite these characteristics, this ingredient remains humble, especially in terms of price. For this reason, it is called the "savior of the poor man’s table."

TASTE’S recommended Valentine's Food Magazine
Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai or Filipino cuisine? Where can we find the finest of them all? Three of the country’s top F&B personalities – Charlemagne Lim of Little Asia, Chef Sau del Rosario of Museum Café and Chef Vicky Pacheco of the Chateau 1771 Group of Restaurants – explain how embracing Asian culture and cuisine is a surefire formula for success. Be inspired by their stories in the January-February 2006 issue of F&B World, the Philippines’ first and only trade magazine for foodservice.

Montevista Cafe
Trying the new North Luzon Expressway going to Clark one weekend was a big break for us, being the mall rats that we are in Manila. The kids got their fill of space and fresh air that weekend, running freely on the green grass of Clark Field. Although Duty Free shopping is already out of style here, you can still find a few outlets to visit. I suggest, though, that you do your grocery shopping for snacks and baon before leaving Manila.

Greenbelt’s Seafood Club
If one is in search of quality crab dishes at affordable prices, Greenbelt 2’s Seafood Club (at the 2nd level near Cascada and Chef Melissa’s My Little Kitchen) is, without doubt, a good discovery thanks to its wide range of available seafood, both a la carte and in buffet.
