MANILA (AFP) - At least 13 people are dead and about 30,000 people were forced to evacuate after monsoon rains triggered floods and a landslide in the country, according to reports from the Office of Civil Defense (OCD).

The country's disaster relief agency said seven people died yesterday when a landslide buried houses near a hillside outside of Sugod town in the central island of Leyte. Meanwhile, six people drowned in floods in the southern island of Mindanao.

Three people remain missing after water inundated parts of Tago town, also in Mindanao, the OCD said, adding some 29,448 people in five central and southern provinces were evacuated to temporary homes.
