American Power Corporation’s (APC) expertise in and solution on giving life to critical data centers is put to a nationwide acid test at one of the core of the Government’s judiciary branch.
The Supreme Court of the Philippines has acquired APC’s InfraStruXure solution as part of the High Tribunal’s IT infrastructure enhancement plan.
"The purchase will not be the last for the Supreme Court. By next year, we plan to double the number of workstations the APC solution currently supports as we plan to link all of our 27,000 employees nationwide. This will result in a massive undertaking worthy of APC’s expertise," said Petrita C. Arguelles, Assistant Chief of the Management Information Systems Office of the Supreme Court.
Speaking thru an APC press release, she said the hefty investment is expected to pay off for the organization in the long term.
"With the level of investment that we’ve pumped in, we needed a reliable data center and power management solution partner. APC came into play because of its long-standing reputation and InfraStruXure’s modularity, scalability and manageability," she stated.
She added, "The Supreme Court expects to reap the benefits of worry-free data center management and lower training costs. The data center plays a critical role in our IT infrastructure. It provides support to everyone in the network to do their jobs right."
Since 2001, the Supreme Court has embarked on the acquisition of Information and Communications Technology-related resources to support its modernization project. Some computerized systems were deployed to support the monitoring and disposition of court cases. Computers and printers where distributed to all courts across the country ensuring that each court will have at least one set of computer and printer.
The Supreme Court data center is being upgraded to accommodate the additional servers that will host the various e-Systems and back-office applications of the Court, including the APC InfraStruXture recently purchased by the Supreme Court that supports the power requirements of the data center.
The Supreme Court’s data center currently supports back office applications like personnel and financial management, asset monitoring and payroll. In time, it will be expanded to include judicial applications like electronic library, bar exams and case management.
With the numerous applications supported by the Supreme Court’s data center, InfraStruXure plays a critical role in its operations, said Ian Dela Rosa, enterprise account manager for American Power Conversion Philippines.
APC’s InfraStruXure is an on-demand architecture for Network Critical Physical Infrastructure (NCPI). The InfraStruXure design, which integrates power, cooling rack, management and services, allows the selection of standardized components to create a solution through modular and mobile configurations.
This standardization enables an easily scalable architecture designed to meet changing needs and future expansions. This patent-pending approach provides increased availability, improved adaptability and speed of deployment as well as lower total cost of ownership for IT environments from wiring closets to computer rooms to data centers.
"Training the judiciary branch’s staff on the procedures of operating the InfraStruXure became increasingly vital," said Arguelles. "To meet this end, APC, as part of its customer service mantra, provided us with the knowledge required to utilize the solution optimally."
