Verily, fate has a strange way of shaping one’s life. The tricks it plays are delightful to some but nasty to others as the members of San Ildefonso College Batch ’75 discovered for themselves. The batch, composed of 204 students, went their separate ways after graduation, many of them migrating to various parts of the world. Some have beautiful stories to tell, others bring tales of gloom. Some found the pot of gold, others the gutter of misfortune. After 3 decades, a reunion took place upon the initiative of Darwin, an alumna.
Ruffa Gutierrez’s tiangge to benefit mudslide victims
Ruffa Gutierrez–Bektas is in town and the first thing she announced to the entertainment press last Thursday (over dinner at Salt & Pepper, an urban stylized restaurant owned by her friend Geena Llamanzares), was about her plan to mount a fund-raising event to benefit the mudslide victims of Leyte. She plans to put up a tiangge where she’ll sell all her clothes, bags, shoes, accessories which are just taking space in her closets.
