Breast cancer is treatable with a good survival rate if diagnosed early. However, despite nationwide advocacies on breast cancer awareness, it is alarming that a majority of patients diagnosed to be in the late stages of the disease are those who cannot afford and sustain the cost of treatment. Because breast cancer carries along a mixed bag of uncertainties and fears, oftentimes, women are overwhelmed into inaction and that can be fatal.
Prevention strategies for cervical cancer cited
In two recent lectures among cancer, infectious disease, and adolescent medicine specialists, Merck Sharp & Dohme (MSD) senior medical director Dr. Gregg Sylvester revealed that 99.7 percent of cervical cancers worldwide have been linked to the human papillomavirus (HPV), a group of more than 100 viruses. Some types of HPV cause the common warts that grow on hands and feet, while others can cause the development of cervical cancer.
