SAMSUNG X700
A black surface dominates, while a silver lining accentuates, the Samsung X700. I appreciate the smooth contours of this phone, which allows it to fit neatly in my palm. The phone’s screen was so brilliant I often found myself wiping away my finger marks on the glass surface. The screen area, by the way, measures 31x39 mm—quite an improvement from the other Samsung cellular phones I previously tested.

GAMETIME
Want to be a rocker and a gamer at the same time? This PS2 might be the game for you. You get to test your speed (both eyes and hands) and try to match all the colors that come out of the screen. I've seen this game before at the malls but was too shy to try it since crowd normally converged either to cheer you up or make fun of you. At least now, I can play this inside my room and rock the night away.

One Laptop Per Child: Closing the North-South Digital Gap
A laptop computer for every child in the world’s most impoverished countries. A cyber-utopian dream? Or a cruel joke played on the millions of children in the least developed countries? A snake-oil idea for closing the ever widening digital divide between the leading industrialized countries and Third-World countries where large numbers of poor families are surviving on less than a U.S. dollar a day?

Automating the Web Browsing Experience
A Filipino Internet startup based in Chicago, IL, called Newbie Labs, has released innovative software called Newbie, an acronym which stands for Network Enabled Web Browser Interface. Newbie allows Internet users to manage their frequently visited websites using web automation. The core of the software lies in a technology called Newbie Automation Engine developed by the founder of the company Julius Alba. (Ed Note: Mr. Alba was also one of the original five founding members of Yehey!, a Filipino search engine back in the late 90's). The Newbie Automation Engine allows a user to create Newbie Scripts that makes use of Application Programming Interface (API) functions that take advantage of an Internet browser's existing Document Object Model. The DOM, for short, is the underlying technology that allows browsers to render and display web pages. Users of Newbie can create custom scripts that can automatically login to web accounts such as email, extract data from web sites and manage a user's daily interaction on the Internet.
