Beaver The Rice-lover And His Five Chefs
After reviewing the delicate cookeries of Nicoise and Provence cuisines (the frugal provincial cooking of traditional Southern France) for a year, I found myself interested in looking into different restaurant within the Metro to sample some. To gourmets, Nicoise food is always humble, and Provencal cuisine is something very close to oriental cuisine—garlic, olive oil, almost no butter—and without the heavy infusion of cream.

Paeng And Gabs New Place
The sign read "NP KOPI TIAM". In Malay, Kopi Tiam is a humble coffee shop serving tea and inexpensive snacks (and occasionally, meals) to the members of the working class who wish to spend their hard-earned money on food that will tide them over until they can get home. A simple coffee or milk tea, some bread with sweet native spread, or even stir-fried noodles sparsely flavored with bits of meat and seafood can arrest hunger momentarily. Recently, the concept of Kopi Tiam, which evokes images of nostalgia and tradition among Malaysians and Singaporeans, has become very trendy.

Ace’s good food and Healthy Waters
If you were looking to sink your teeth into a big hearty meal, a health club wouldn’t be the first place on your list. However, Ace Water Spa, along Del Monte Avenue in Quezon City, is looking to change all that. The spa’s Ace Coffee Lounge features a collection of appetizers and main courses that are unerringly popular with and familiar to most palates. It’s not what you might call a top gourmet experience, but given the lounge’s practically fresh beginning, the dishes are more than good enough.

Hershey’s launches new Kissables
Last February 13, The Hershey Company introduced the new Hershey’s Kissables to the Philippines in an event dubbed, "A Day of a Thousand Kissables" at the Lumiere Restaurant in Makati City.

Sakae Sushi
"Good Place, Very Good Sushi," so says the banner. Sakae Sushi at the Fort Town Center in Fort Bonifacio is a relatively new place. From the outside, you’ll see bamboo plants decorating the façade. Because of the glass walls, you’ll see the conveyor belts transporting the sushi plates around and all over the place. Very interesting and very Japanese. Should I even mention the flat screen monitor PCs for the menu and for ordering in each of the tables? Will the Japanese-looking façade and interior complement the sushi? We’ll find out.
