Fashion and Style To the Hilt
In the past, I have had good experiences with Nokia's cellphones. They have quality-trusted products and the public embraces their designs. I was surprised to see the new production of Nokia in a commercial: The L'amour Collection. The commercial specifically emphasizes the new backgrounds and wallpapers. I was excited upon receiving this product because of the impression of the advertisement.

Xcom Marks the Spot!
Had the Chinese invented the Swiss Army Knife, it would probably come out something like the Xcom P401A Pocket Multimedia Player. Don’t get me wrong. Of course I’m not serious. But with all its features and its very handy design, it is not hard to compare it with the world-famous all-in-one tool.

Opening Pages
Last week I gave a summary of the presentations from the CEO Forum during the 6th eServices Philippines conference. But the highlights of the forum for me were the talks of Christopher Beshouri, President & CEO of McKinsey Philippines and Senator Mar Roxas.

Security Secrets And Strategies
The Internet continues to offer many new opportunities for increased commerce, community interaction and learning, but Internet crime is maturing as an ever-evolving threat. Hackers and thieves adapt quickly to foil enhanced security mechanisms, finding new ways to steal personal and financial information. As a result of these ever-changing threats, the Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) have joined together to identify and help consumers prepare for potential emerging Internet threats in the upcoming year. We have also developed five online preparedness practices that, when implemented, could help consumers avoid becoming Internet crime victims in 2006.

Knowledge Box
RSS also known as Rich Site Summary or Real Simply Syndication, arrived on the scene a number of years ago, but was only recently embraced by webmasters as a means to effectively syndicate content. RSS Feeds provide webmasters and content providers an avenue to provide concise summaries to prospective readers. Thousands of commercial web sites and blogs now publish content summaries in an RSS feed. Each item in the feed typically contains a headline; article summary and link back to the online article.

Reality Bites
Last December 2004, Microsoft announced its acquisition of Anti-spyware company Giant Company Software which signals the intention of Microsoft to enter the security business. Two weeks later, Microsoft released its first beta of its anti-spyware application called Microsoft Anti-Spyware.

Having Fun With I.T.
Have you ever noticed the fonts used in movie and TV titles? Those flashy, stylish, creative fonts. Wouldn't it be nice if we can have them as well and apply them to our documents or presentations?

Three phones from BENQ-Siemens
Many people thought that the Siemens Mobile Business has come to an end, but BenQ, confident with the German engineering, quality and experience, infused this principles with their own lifestyle design expertise and speed to market.

LCD Technology Promises Not to Wilt Under the Sun
I have been intimate with quite a number of mobile phones, most of them of different models and brands. But before some kidnap, er…hospitality-for-a-fee groups have any funny idea and start inviting me for a less-than-voluntary stay within their premises and facilities, I wish to make it clear that I have not purchased or bought those handsets with my own money. All those handsets were handed to me by my editor, who let me use them in exchange for at least a thousand garbled words that could pass for a review article.

Sony Ericsson M600i UMTS messaging phone puts secure e-mail and Internet at your fingertips

Siemens has developed a navigation system with a three-dimensional map display. These true-to-life images of entire streets and intersections make it easier for drivers to find their destinations even in unfamiliar urban areas. The system will be launched on the market in mid 2008.

Nokia and MySQL collaborate on next generation telecommunication subscriber registers

SURFING “THE NET” FOR ITS PIONEERING WAVES IN THE PHILIPPINES
With the rapidly changing information highway and the evolution of a “global cyber culture,” we Filipinos have been conquered and dazed to recall how Philippine Internet all came to be. After twelve long years since we diminished our ignorance to the “World Wide Web,” it is time to acknowledge the pioneers in the Philippine Net Business.

Blog-O-Rama
In the past year, this writer has been a member of Blogkadahan, a group website where members post their views on a chosen topic, which may range from the mundane to the political. In the words of teacher Rolly de los Santos, Blogkadahan derived its title from the word “barkada,” a uniquely Filipino phenomenon which fills our need to belong. The barkada it seems is deeply rooted in history, for how else could the Pinoys have endured all those years of colonial oppression without our “brand of camaraderie” and the ability to laugh at ourselves? More than gathering together some of the most talented Filipino bloggers scattered in different parts of the globe, Blogkadahan has evolved into a real-life friendship for its remaining active members where everything - from “eyeballs” to weddings to births - are celebrated online as it is in reality. It is to the credit of Dr. Emer who formed the Blogkada initially as a Gmail group. Thanks to this bonding, blogging is no longer a solitary activity it is commonly perceived to be. The Berks Café (as our ‘email chatroom’ is called) is not only the place where we discuss future topics, it has become the ultimate refuge where Blogkadahan members laugh, shed a few tears, absorb knowledge and just be ourselves without fear of being judged. Cheers to that!
