Many people thought that the Siemens Mobile Business has come to an end, but BenQ, confident with the German engineering, quality and experience, infused this principles with their own lifestyle design expertise and speed to market.
"Last year, around June-July 2005, Siemens made a press announcement stating that they were selling the Siemens mobile business to BenQ Corporation. In October 1 of that same year, a new company was born - called BenQ Mobile. And this company brings together the Siemens Mobile business and the BenQ Mobile business from before (BenQ already had a small mobile business)," said Rahul Karve, Regional Business Development Director of BenQ Mobile.
The said acquisition of Siemens by BenQ meant the transfer of all 7,000 staff in the Siemens mobile business over to BenQ Mobile, including the products, R&D, the factories, and the sales and marketing team around the world.
The official launch of the BenQ-Siemens brand was Jan. 17, 2006 in two cities, Beijing and Berlin, an east meets west launch which is a key part of the new brand. It focused on the meeting of two different cultures and ideas.
With their vision "Keep exploring," the new BenQ-Siemens brand will be taking on more exploration in the months to come.
Local consumers of the Siemens brand do not have to worry when it comes to the aftersales support of their previous products. Haldane Philippines, Inc., the country's authorized distributor for Siemens AG, has renewed its partnership with the now BenQ Mobile company.
"Now, with the addition of the BenQ-Siemens branding, I think our loyal consumers will be more excited... Basically, because of the east meets west strategy, we will see very good German engineering as well as the now fashion and fun segment of the BenQ fusion," said Mr. Chris Uyco, General Manager of Haldane Philippines, Inc.
Mobile consumers will surely await the new products of BenQ Mobile. Three new phones - the EF81, S68 and S88 - were also unveiled during the launch. (by Carlo S. Suerte Felipe)
