It was one of the year’s biggest and most awaited events for all of Sykes Asia Incorporated’s employees — the year-end party. About 5,000 employees of Sykes from the 4 Manila sites gathered at the PICC Forum last Dec. 17, 2005 for a fantasythemed Christmas celebration.

The ambiance of enchantment was felt all over the PICC Forum as the venue was fully-decorated to fit the event’s theme. Characters from the fantasy genre such as elves, giants, goblins and fairies were seen everywhere. ‘Sykesers’ likewise showed up for party wearing their own fantasy-themed garb. Activities like face painting, henna tattooing an extreme games such as air jousting, rappelling and free falling were added to give total entertainment. A buffet scattered around the venue inspired by the 4 elements was catered by the Westin Philippine Plaza.

The sunsets and the countdown for the party began as the Solid Gold Dancers started off the celebration with an energizing performance accompanied by an audiovisual presentation shown on several wide screens. The hosts for the event were Magic 89.9’s Toni-Toni and BBB (Body, Beauty and Brain) comedienne Giselle Sanchez. Vice President and managing director Michael John Henderson delivered his year-end message with mood-stirring words to every employee of Sykes. With the accompaniment of The Blue Pill (Sykes’ representative to the 2006 Call Center Association Battle of the Bands) Mike followed-up his speech with a dynamic song performance that drove the crowd into a frenzy. To further fuel the evening, a performance from Master Rapper Francis Magalona followed. Other homegrown talents of Sykes also went onstage to perform an electic array of music.

In the middle of the celebration, special awards were presented to winning employees of the Company’s Annual Sportfest Tournament which include sports such as bowling, billiards, badminton, football, volleyball and basketball. Certificates were also handed out to recognize those winners of the Sykes Standards of Excellence program and 5-Year Service Awardees.

Earth. Water. Air. Fire. These 4 elements were pitted against each other in the Clash of the Elements interpretive dance competition that took place. In the end, it was Senior Director Rommel Regino’s "Earth" themed Business Unit that walked away with the grand cash prize of P50,000.

Midnight came and the party continued to rock on with the awaited performance of the country’s top band, Rivermaya and RnB sensation Art&Soul.

It was a wonderful evening dedicated to all Sykes employees as a show of gratitude for the people behind the continuing success of the Company as it remains to be the recognized Pioneer and the largest call center in the country.
