While the X-Trail made its claim to fame with its real-world off-road capabilities, many of its buyers also raved about its excellent on-road prowess, because it handled like a sedan at the corners and accelerated almost like a sporty car at the straights. This sporty performance is, of course, expected from its Skyline roots.
So imagine the result if the X-Trail, with its proven agility on the road, gets the "NISMO treatment."

| NISMO X-Trail | | Nissan Motor Philippines, Inc. (NMPI) is now making available through its dealers the NISMO X-Trail.
The new variant is fitted with genuine parts like front and rear bumper spoilers, firmer shock absorbers, 18-inch rims, free-flow muffler and free-flow panel air filter. High performance rubber from Dunlop wrap the 18-inch NISMO alloy rims. The finishing touches are NISMO fuel cap, radiator cap, oil filler cap and oil filter.
The total package, if bought separately, costs approximately P230,000. Starting Feb. 22, authorized Nissan dealers will offer a special price package for the complete set of NISMO parts and accessories for the X-Trail.
With the suspension modifications, the X-Trail still retains some of its off-road capabilities. However, there is a marked improvement in on-road performance, as the sporty tire and rim combination and firmer suspension set-up make for better handling in taking straights and corners at high speeds.
Likewise, the free-flow muffler and air filter allows for better response, and a better availability of torque over a wider rpm range.
Even before it was introduced by NMPI in the Philippines, the NISMO brand already had a lot of followers who wanted to get their hands on genuine parts.
"Most NISMO parts have a function, and are not purely for show. This is the reason why NISMO undertakes rigorous testing of their products in its factory and in actual racing conditions like the Super GT Series, where NISMO has had a dominating presence for so many years," said Raymond Tribdino, senior manager for market and product planning at NMPI.
In fact, NISMO won its third consecutive Team Championship Title in the Super GT Series last year, and is aiming for more wins this year.
