Forum highlights gains in M2M technology

The global trendsetting technology called Machine to Machine will be the topic of a half-day conference on March 30, 2006 at the New World Renaissance Hotel in Makati. The invitational event shall present the new technology commonly known as M2M, and will have foreign and local experts from the industry as speakers.

Machine to Machine Interactive Intelligence, Inc. (M2MI3) is hosting the conference to create awareness among potential system integrators and the end-user market about the technology of M2M Development Community; to educate the market with the various applications of M2M and its benefits; and to encourage prospective distributors and the enduser target market to apply this technology in their current operations.

M2M stands for Machine to Machine, Machine to Mobile, and Mobile to Machine communications. It can connect and enable an array of equipment from mainframes to everyday products (e.g. vehicles, home appliances, buildings, manufacturing equipment) and unleash new levels of smart services and commerce.

Currently, there are a number of successful implementations that exist for cell towers, oil and gas pipelines, vending machines, vehicles, security systems, water and electric metering, game systems, cargo and asset tracking that already yield significant results.

Around 150 participants are expected to attend and learn more about M2M and the wave of our various industries’ future. Among them are top management of IT companies, operations managers and production/technical personnel from telecom operators, large manufacturing industries, systems operators, power/energy sector players, hospitals, and other companies that can apply M2M in their operations.

With the main theme: "M2M: Expanding Business Possibilities," guest speakers are Angeles de Pablos of Sony Ericsson, who will talk about "Embracing M2M," an overview of M2M Technology, how the market can adopt the technology, and M2M initiatives to support the market; Benson Houghland of Opto 22 on "Real World Challenges," a forum on the progress of M2M and leveraging its capabilities and how it impacts on business operations.

Other speakers are Dr. Andy Clark of IBM on "Data Delivery Assurance and Standards" and Ariel R. Dela Cruz of M2MP on "Business Models and Opportunities," which is a discussion of the potential of M2M technology to revolutionize business models for a number of companies in various industry segments.
