COLLEGE OF St. Benilde, led by gold medalist Sharon Limansantoso, swept all the medals in the Masters of the National Schools Tenpin Bowling Championships at the Pearl Bowling Center in Parañaque City.
Limansantoso started the day slow but suddenly turned on her game and rolled a 2747, 12-game series for a 228.9 average before rolling a 260 game in the final to rally from third spot and edge out teammate Lorenzo Taylo by nine pins. The bronze medal went to JC Tupaz, who rolled a 2680 series.
St. Benilde finished the tournament with two golds, four silvers, and five bronze.
Apple Posadas, fifth in the Masters, emerged as the bigggest winner by anchoring the University of the Philippines to a three-gold finish.
The only other school to win a medal in the collegiate division was De La Salle University with one silver.
Kenneth Chua, of St. Peter the Apostle School, took home his second gold in the High School Masters to help his school match the two golds of Xavier School.
Chua held off J. Em Ang of Xavier in the Masters by rolling a 2689 against Ang’s 2671. Jayson Tubid of Ateneo de Manila settled for the bronze.
Xavier School eventually pocketed two golds, three silvers, and a bronze. St. Peter had two golds and a silver while Ateneo a gold and two bronzes, all from Tubid.
Dominique Bernabe claimed a silver for Elizabeth Seton South while Assumption Antipolo and Montessori de Manila came home with a bronze each, courtesy of Lara Posadas and the doubles team of Marjorie and Marvin Reyes, respectively.
The second championship in this series, sponsored by Kegel Asia, Pearl bowling center, Storm Products, Roto Grip Products, and Columbia 300, is set in the fourth quarter of this year.
