Party-list Rep. Risa Hontiveros Baraquel of Akbayan is arrested by police during a protest march of hundreds of women activists marking International Women’s Day. Police made the arrest on the ground that the marchers had no permit to rally.

Arrest of retired General Garcia’s wife, 3 children ordered by Sandigan in plunder case
The Sandiganbayan Second Division yesterday ordered the arrest of the immediate family of retired Maj. Gen. Carlos F. Garcia based on a P303-million plunder case the Office of the Ombudsman filed against them in April, 2005.

Hundreds of women activists and protesters yesterday marked International Women’s Day by marching on the street to express their outrage over what they called as President Arroyo’s "betrayal of women’s interests and the people’s civil and political rights."
