Luke 6:36-38
ESUS said to His disciples, "Be merciful, just as [also] your Father is merciful.
"Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven. Give and gifts will be given to you; a good measure, packed together, shaken down, and overflowing, will be poured into your lap. For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you."
The WORD
"Who is God for you?’’ This question is often heard in prayer group sharing. A challenging question, it makes us confront our image of God. We often expect God to be most powerful, all-perfect, most just and exact in every way. We thus try to be right and true before God. We feel sorry about other people who are not able to respond to God with the same righteousness that we have.
Our insistence on the perfection of God as the supreme and absolute being makes us forget that, over all these, God is a God of love. Mercy and generosity by far surpass justice and righteousness. Jesus’ mission and teaching emphasize God’s great mercy and generosity.
