Yee, Rodriguez rule qualifier
MICO YEE and Cyna Rodriguez topped the recent qualifying for the Asia-Pacific junior championships conducted by the Junior Golf Foundation of the Philippines at the Orchard and Puerto Azul courses in Cavite.
Yee won Class A pulling away while Rodriguez ruled Class B in the girls division in the 36-hole series which also served as the final school season event of the Samsung Jungolf Tour.
Yee scored a 71 at Orchard and despite an 81 at Puerto Azul, he still won the event by 12 shots. He tallied 152.
Long-hitting Gino Bunyi has rounds of 78 and 86 for 164.
Rodriguez assembled 159 after rounds of 79 and 80 to handily beat Paulina Sotto (91-80-171) in her division.
Bambee dela Paz also qualified for the Asia-Pacific tourney slated on April 29 to May 2 at the Singapore Island Golf and Country Club in Singapore after winning Class A with an 86-85-171.
Bino dela Paz and Dottie Ardina prevailed in Class C while JR Gonzales and Kim Mingi were the champions in the Class D category.
Dela Paz pooled 170 (88-82) en route to a five-shot victory over Michael Limandibrata, Ardina had 74-74-148 to beat Sunmi Hwang (171), JR Gonzales scored 80-78-158 and Kim (94-87-181) beat another Korean girl Ahn Sieun (196).
