Chua dominates Bevida-Storm bowl
spacer

KENNETH CHUA is on a roll.

A week after winning the Masters event in the Philippine National Schools’ Championship, Chua, a stalwart of TBAM and Prima, produced another scintillating performance to rule the Bevida-Storm Challenge at the Pearl Bowling Center in Parañaque City.

With his win, Chua pocketed the handsome top purse of P100,000 as he outclassed some members of the national pool – most of them are seasoned internationalists. His feat also proved that he deserved to be a member of the national youth pool.

Chua had a 12-game series of 2817 – he normed 234.75 a game – to beat Kathlynn Lopez, also team Bowlmart and Columbia 300, by 14 pins.

Lopez tallied 2803 after averaging 233.58 a game.

The finals was electrifying as players produced one big game after another to the delight of a big weekend crowd.

Jessica Jopson, team bowlmart and Euro-med member, finished third with 2762 beating out Purvis Granger by a single pin. Both bowlers averaged 230. In fifth position was teammate Gene Basa with a 2742 series.

Purvis is a Storm staff while Gene represents Dynothane. Fellow Storm staff and team Prima bowler JC Tupaz checked in at the sixth place with a 2702 series followed by Gilbryne Salazar (2692), Carlo Mansilungan (2681), Nelia Santos (2678), and Biboy Rivera (2651). Rounding up the top 15 were Jayson Tubid (2650), Edagar Barroga (2643), Vener Reasonda (2639), Joonee Gatchalian (2628) and Apple Posadas (2622).

Meanwhile, the Euromed-Storm World Invitational Challenge will be held on April 1-9 also at Pearl Bowling Center and with the champion getting R1 million top purse.

The next Bevida-Storm Challenge will be a part of that tournament. But unlike this one the Bevida-Storm Challenge will be limited to bowlers with an average of 195 and below to accommodate more of the ladies and graded bowlers.

Interested bowlers should contact Ms. Baby Enriquez. Daily prizes will be given out through out the duration of the tournament. Bevida, Wave, Storm, Pearl Bowling Center, and Furusato are the proud sponsor of this tournament. Kegel Asia is the lane maintenance partner and Manila Bulletin is the media partner.
