The planned DNA test scheduled on the alleged love child of Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao was postponed after he snubbed for the second time the face-to-face courtroom meeting set yesterday with his alleged former lover and the two-year-old boy he allegedly sired.
The DNA test – which could verify paternity of the boy – failed to happen after doctors said that both the boxing champ and the boy should undergo the test.
Joanna Rose Bacosa, Pacquiao’s alleged ex-lover, earlier said she would submit her child to a DNA test – with or without the Quezon City court’s permission – to prove that the boy is the son of Pacquiao.
Dr. Raymond Noc, chief pathologist of the St. Luke’s Medical Center, said in a radio interview they would need sample specimen from Pacquiao, Bacosa, and the child before they could conduct the DNA test.
Bacosa earlier sued Pacquiao for allegedly violating Republic Act No. 9262, which protects women from violence, and to seek support for the boy.
Her lawyer , Vic Rodriguez, said Bacosa decided to sue Pacquiao after he made threats about kidnapping the boy. He said the boxing champ also stopped responding to his client’s text messages and calls.
Pacquiao earlier questioned claims that he fathered the child, saying Bacosa had a boyfriend when he was seeing her in 2003.
Yesterday would have been the first face-to-face meeting between the boxer, the allege lover and the alleged son after nearly a year. The meeting was set at 12 noon at the office of the Assistant Prosecutor Ma. Gracia Casaclang at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
The boxing champ was expected to appear before the hearing to take his oath because he failed to show up during the first hearing because he is with his family in Hong Kong.
