Only a lucky few are privileged to celebrate 65 years of marriage, and one such couple is Gavino and Esther (Lozada) Unchuan who were beaming happily for that special blessing during a dinner celebration at the family–owned Cebu White Sands in Maribago.

The evening affair began with a thanksgiving mass and the couple’s reaffirmation of vows before Fr. Ramon Fred P. Ofredo.

Binoy and Esther couldn’t ask for more. They were surrounded by their loved ones — Doc Monching, Paquito and Marissa, Nena and John Hurlbut, Jimmy and Bettina, and Tina, widow of the Unchuan’s eldest son Eddie who passed away some years ago.

And yes, looking very happy too were the grandchildren and the great grandchildren plus relatives and close friends.

The evening started out cloudy but the skies soon cleared and the seaside resort was bathed in a golden glow of bliss.

The 2nd International Visayas-Mindanao Travel, Tours, Leisure and Lifestyle Expo at the SM City Trade Hall was another big success, thanks to its organizers, the Cebu Travel and Tours Association, the Cebu Association of Tour Operators, and GlobalLink Marketing & Management Services.

Overall chairperson Marget Villarica of Destinations Specialists is proud to say that "Cebu continues to be at the center of a dynamic resurgence in tourism activities and arrivals, supporting even more its position as the tourism capital of the country."

Globe Telecom donated an educational TV program to the Tabogon Central School in northern Cebu. It consisted of a 29-inch TV set with DVD player and 70 volumes of classroom lessons in mathematics, science, English, etc. This was the 8th one distributed in Cebu by the company and the 168th nationwide.

Present during the turnover were Gov. Gwen Garcia, Tabogon councilor Tessie Lechido, Tabogon parish priest Fr. William Ybañez, former Mayor Dodong Lechido, school superintendent Eustiquio Alivio, teachers and members of the parish pastoral council.

The Globe team included senior manager/marketing consultant Mon Escaño Jr. and PR execs Allyn Santamaria and Jeff Tarayao.

Ciao, Ciao Paparazzi was a goodbye party to the Ocean Wing of ShangriLa’s Mactan Is. Resort (where the popular Italian resto is located) which has since been closed for renovation.

Well, it was not really goodbye but "so long" because sooner than soon a re-invented and refurbished Ocean Wing (with Paparazzi at the forefront) will open its doors.

The celebration was a blast! The Shangri-La team led by GM Tom Wright were all garbed in workmen’s outfit. Yes, the party theme was demolition and the stage was set for such.

A little explosion here, some whirring noises there — indeed it was demolition time! When the band took centerstage, the mock demolition stopped and then it was dance time all the way!
