Pangasinan

READY to take on a grand countryside tour? Ditch those mundane trips to the malls. Instead take a bus off to a place closest to home like rustic Pangasinan, for a start. Get to any of choice destination at one of the most promising provinces of North Luzon aboard Victory Liner.

The transport of choice among holidaymakers, foreign tourists and regular commuters, Victory Liner provides first hand view of the bucolic sights from a place dubbed as "Panag-asinan," (a place where salt is made). From extensive salt beds, old churches, loads of bangus (milk fish) and yes, even a glimpse of magnificent migratory birds, Victory Liner is likely to make every trip worth everyone’s while.

If there is one thing that makes bus travel a breeze these days is the accessibility of terminals. Victory Liner has put into place convenient stations in Dagupan, Lingayen, Alaminos and Bolinao to serve its ever-growing number of patrons.

Every terminal is a buzz with passengers lining up for the ride. As revealed by Dagupan stationmasters Alejandro Sebastian and Paulino Munar Jr., weekends and Mondays are always at a peak.

"A lot of people either working or visiting Manila take the bus here to make it to our morning trips. We are pretty busy especially during holidays and summer where most of our passengers are heading off to Baguio or Manaoag," related Munar.

With 88 buses and over 200 staff, the sizeable Dagupan station easily accommodates customers going to and from Pasay or Cubao to Alaminos and Sta. Cruz without a hitch.

It’s almost the same for Lingayen and Alaminos. Though relatively smaller than Dagupan, the two terminals enjoy good patronage within their respective areas.

Says Alaminos stationmaster Franklin Calixto, terminal accessibility is important, "I guess commuters go for convenience so to be in an area easy to find and reach not only worked for us but also, for our regular customers."

Alaminos is the best place to catch a trip to Pangasinan’s popular leisure spot Hundred Islands. Calixto added it turned hectic all throughout summer and from October to January.

Lingayen for its part serves as a convenient base to reaching the town’s historical landmark, Lingayen Gulf. Stationmaster Romulo Maneja disclosed the terminal makes a good travel point for those wanting to visit the gulf, "We have trip schedules as early as 1 a.m. until 5 p.m. so it’s easy for them to come and enjoy the rounds at the beautiful sights here."

Pangasinan is also known for fabulous beaches, great for surfing, snorkeling and kayaking. So, put excitement back into a much-needed vacation. Rediscover interesting local attractions and hop on to a Victory Liner bus.
