Time Asia Magazine's Manila correspondent Nelly Sindayen claimed that she is standing by her article published February 26, 2006 regarding the coup plot against President Arroyo, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) disclosed today.
Regional Director lawyer Reynaldo Esmeralda, chief of NBI Special Task Force (STF), said Sindayen sent a statement to the NBI through her lawyer Valeriano del Rosario.
"I, Nelly Sindayen, understand that you wish to ask me certain questions concerning the article entitled 'Emergency Rules' published by the Time Magazine on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2006. Please note that I stand by the article and have nothing further to add,'' said Sindayen in the statement sent yesterday to the NBI STF, through Head Agent Arnel Dalumpines, STF Executive Officer.
With the affirmation of Sindayen, Esmeralda said the ongoing probe on the coup plot against President Arroyo has gone ''one step ahead.'' He said the NBI could now go after the personalities who were mentioned in the Time's article which carried the byline of Bryan Walsh with additional reporting by Sindayen.
According to the published Time magazine story, Pastor Saycon reportedly had met with former Rep. Cojuangco at his house in Dasmarinas Village in Makati on the evening of February 23 to supposedly plan the coup. Many officials and businessmen reportedly joined the meeting.
