MANNY PACQUIAO met with executives of ABS-CBN the other night to update the television channel on his eagerly-awaited tune up fight at the Araneta Coliseum sometime in June or July.
"ABS-CBN is worried that’s why they called the meeting," said Pacquiao’s right-hand man Wakee Salud, while on his way to the TV station’s head office in Quezon City. "They want to know the exact date and the status of Manny’s opponent."
There have been reports of a possible rematch with Marco Antonio Barrera following the unsuccessful bid to bring in Mexican Oscar Larios. But nothing concrete has been arrived at though many believe a rematch is a surefire blockbuster.
The exact date of Pacquiao’s next fight hasn’t been agreed upon. What has been agreed upon is the deal between Pacquiao and ABS-CBN which was forged early as last week. The deal gave ABS-CBN the sole broadcasting rights for the fight.
The meeting with the TV executives is the first step towards the finalization of the promotion that will be handled by Salud.
