Franchise Excellence Awards set tomorrow

The most prestigious and the only franchise excellence awards in the country, the Franchise Excellence Awards 2005, will honor tomorrow (March 20) the country’s top franchises at the Grand Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Galleria Manila, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

FEA is the first ever seal of recognition given to the country’s franchisors, both homegrown and local who have epitomized the model of a successful franchise both in terms of business growth and ethical practices. It is being spearheaded by the Philippine Franchise Association (PFA) in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) and the Philippine Retailers Association (PRA).

Around 50 candidates were nominated to the FEA 2005 search for the Most Outstanding Filipino Franchise, Most Promising Filipino Franchise, International Master Franchise, Franchisee of the Year and Franchise Marketing Campaign Categories.

The 20 nominees who made it to the final list are Julie’s Bakeshop, Pancake House, Netopia Internet Café, Monterey and Kamiseta for Most Outstanding Filipino Franchise, Food, Service and Retail Category, respectively; Philippine Seven Corporation for International Master Franchise Category; Folded & Hung, Brother’s Burger and Bo’s Coffee for Most Promising Filipino Franchise. Franchisees of Max’s Restaurant, Julie’s Bakeshop, Mr. Quickie and Viva Videocity vie for Franchisee of the Year Category; Julie’s Bakeshop, Goldilocks, Bayo, Crystal Clear Water, Candy Corner and Mr. Quickie are finalists for Franchise Marketing Campaign Category. Goldilocks and Greenwich are this year’s finalists for Hall of Fame Awards.

The previous years’ winners include Max’s Restaurant, Jollibee, Mc Donalds, Bench, Greenwich, Figaro Coffee, Crystal Clear; Candy Corner, Pizza Hut, Marks & Spencers, Starbucks, Islands Souvenir, Reyes Haircutters, The Coffee Experience, Hotshots, Plains & Prints, among others.

Aside from the FEA winners, two special awards will be given out this year. The special citations will be given to Agora Awards winners, namely, Ronald Mc Donald House of Charities Phils. for Outstanding Achievements in Advocacy Marketing, Chowking Foods Corporation for Marketing Company of the Year and Celestino Reyes for Outstanding Achievement in Entrepreneurship –Medium Scale, while the Chairman’s Awards will be given to CIDA Pearl 2, The Asian Institute of Management Policy Center, The Philippine Services Coalition and Senator Mar Roxas for their outstanding contribution and invaluable support to the growth and development of the Philippine franchise sector.
