V for Vendetta "People should not be afraid of their government. Government should be afraid of its people." There isn’t a more appropriate line in the films out today than this. In the wake of Proclamation 1017 and with the ongoing curtailment of certain freedoms, there also isn’t a more appropriate movie to watch these days than V for Vendetta. The graphic novel which the film is based on, written by comic book writer-god Alan Moore and drawn by David Lloyd, was a story of a dystopian society in the spirit of Orwell’s 1984 and Huxley’s Brave New World. V remains one of the most compelling reads, and to this reviewer’s and many of its fans, the film is a triumph of its own.
