Pastor ''Boy'' Saycon, secretary-general of the Council on Philippine Affairs, is expected to appear on March 22 at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to give his side as authorities prepare to file rebellion charges against him and other personalities mentioned in the Time Magazine's article published February 26 regarding a coup plot against President Gloria Arroyo.
Regional Director lawyer Reynaldo Esmeralda, chief of NBI Special Task Force (STF), said that Saycon's lawyer, Marc Anthony B. Antonio, has assured the NBI that his client is willing to submit himself to investigation.
Saycon's lawyer had already sent a letter to NBI Office-In-Charge lawyer Nestor Mantaring in response to the March 2, 2006 invitation of the NBI for Saycon to appear at the bureau.
''Considering that the President has lifted Proclamation 1017 and pursuant to your invitation dated March 2, we would like to inform your good office that Mr. Saycon is making himself available for any investigation that might be conducted regarding the malicious and unfounded article written by Ms. Nelly Sindayen of Time Asia Magazine,'' said Antonio in a letter.
