Nokia recently launched a new line-up of mobile phones in the Philippines. The new additions to the Nokia family cater for the mid-level and the business markets.
For the mid-range portfolio, the Finnish phone giant released the stylish Nokia 6131 with an innovative folding design; the classically styled Nokia 6070 that offers basic camera capabilities; and the sleek 3G-enabled Nokia 6233.
Nokia Philippine’s Country General Manager Parikshit Bhasin said, “Market research forecast indicates that the replacement market growth in Asia Pacific will increase exponentially from 2005 to 2007 and it is clear that digital convergence and 3G are the key drivers for this growth. We are increasingly seeing more technologically advanced features such as cameras, music players and support for mobile email being introduced across affordable mid-tier category. Research shows that Asian consumers, in particular, have a stronger appetite for newer, technologically advanced devices and are more likely to be earlier adopters for such devices.
Mr. Bhasin added, “On the 3G front, WCDMA is gaining mass-attraction in the market with over 45.7 million subscribers globally at the end of 2005. we are confident, that as more 3G enabled devices are being introduced to the affordable mid-tier segment, the uptake for WCDMA services will increase sharply and I believe a product like the Nokia 6233 will be extremely popular with consumers.”
The new models to its portfolio of business-optimized devices include the Nokia E61 and Nokia E70 - the first of the new Nokia Enterprise devices - are distinctively different in design and allow businesses of all sizes to mobilize their workforce. Nokia Enterprise devices combine attractive and easy-to-use designs that appeal to individual business users with new underlying technologies that allow IT departments to effectively manage security settings, corporate applications and data. Each of the devices is designed to accommodate must-have mobile applications needed in today’s business world like mobile email and advanced voice calling functions. Together with the two business-optimzed devices, the Nokia 6709 was also introduced.
Nokia also added two new devices in their NSeries line-up. The Nokia N80, the first ever handset to enable home media networking between compatible TVs, audio systems and PCs and the the Nokia N71 the latest device in the Nokia Nseries high performance multimedia range.
