Police identified the victim as Romulo Mata, graduate of the Philippine Maritime Institue and resident of Taguig.

Mata succumbed to multiple stab wounds in the body. He died while undergoing treatment at the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center (JRMMC).

The Manila Police District (MPD) homicide section reported that the incident happened at around 5:45 p.m. on Dasmarinas St., Sta. Cruz, Manila.

Witnesses told police that the two men who were armed with knives stabbed Mata. They remain at large.

Police said that Mata was walking along the area when approached by the two suspects.

Moments later, the suspects started to pull out their knives and stabbed Mata. (Rizal S. Obanil)
