Down’s syndrome (Mongolism) My cousin who is only 29 years old had her first baby last month, but the baby has Mongolism. I thought that this kind of condition is seen only in older women who get pregnant, how come her baby has the defect? What causes this condition? Is this condition associated with mental retardation?
