The government will be promoting more Philippine television shows, films, and music to Indonesia following a selling mission to that country.
The trade mission had succeeded in closing business agreements with their Indonesian counterparts.
A notable business negotiation concluded was Indonesian media outfit P.T. Cahaya Televisi’s bid to import "Encantadia" and "Mulawin," two soap opera productions of Philippine television company GMA Worldwide.
GMA Worldwide, along with Viva Entertainment Group and Unlimited Productions — all first time participants from the entertainment sector in the DTI-organized trade missions, met their Indonesian counterparts in business matching activities arranged by BETP and PTIC-Jakarta.
The three entertainment sector participants likewise generated potential business partnerships with Indonesia in film and music distribution.
Aside from the business matching activities, the entertainment sector participants were also briefed on industry practices in Indonesia such as pricing, viewing preferences of Indonesian audiences, and the state and business prospects for exporting Filipino entertainment programs in Indonesia.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) also arranged the entertainment sector delegates’ tour to Indonesian TV stations and meeting with Indonesia’s Department of Tourism and Culture and Film and Censorship Board. (EHL)
"Although individual media outfits regularly conduct international business trips to expand their market reach, the three participants from entertainment industry realized the significance of participating in business missions organized by a government agency such as DTI as it is proven to be beneficial for them as activities such as these open doors to more business opportunities," according to PTIC-Jakarta Commercial Attache Cassandra Sawadjaan.
