By WALDEN SADIRI

CEBU CITY — The country’s longest-running variety show "Eat Bulaga" (hosted by the popular and enduring trio Tito, Vic & Joey) was telecast live from this city last Saturday and while it was a super successful presentation for GMA Network, it also was very memorable for the Cebuanos, especially for the instant millionaire in the "Laban o Bawi" segment.

For 18-year-old Cebuana Ellamei C. Inot, the latest P1-million peso winner in "Eat Bulaga’s" "Laban O Bawi" portion held live in this city last March 25 at the Cebu City Sports Center, it was her heart that led her to her new status in life — as an instant millionaire!

"Eversince I was young I’ve been watching ‘Eat Bulaga.’ I’ve also wanted to join ‘Laban O Bawi’ because I felt I would know if I’d win the P1- million," she expressed in Tagalog.

TV hosts Vic Sotto and Allan K remarked that they also felt she would win because she was "palaban."

"Nang nakita ko siya, feeling ko mananalo siya. Minsan may ganun kaming nararamdaman," Allan said.

He added that when Ellamei was again asked to choose whether "laban" o "bawi," she looked at Allan and tears began to flow from her eyes, a moment that almost drove him to tears too.

"Sabi ko sa loob ko host ako hindi puwedeng umiyak. Mababaw talaga ang luha ko kapag walang tulog kasi," smiled Allan who just came from a successful show in Bacolod the night before "Eat Bulaga Live" in Cebu."

Lady luck seemed to have been with Ellamei ever since she heard about "Eat Bulaga’s" live show in Cebu from GMA 7 Cebu’s news program "Balitang Bisdak." According to her, she only dropped one entry (she wrote her name on a sheet of bond paper) in SM Cebu.

"I also want to thank God," she said.

The P1 million, she said, would help pay out her family’s debts because both of her parents are jobless and they are eight siblings.

"My father doesn’t have are gular job. He’s into furnitures," shared Ellamei.

She would also like to put up a business, study nursing and pay for her siblings’ education.

Years of watching "Eat Bulaga" definitely paid off for Ellamei C. Inot who never had an inkling she would go home an instant millionaire that day. She confessed that she has always been a fan of the show and really loves watching it!

"You just feel you’re part of the ‘Eat Bulaga’ family when you watch it," she smiled.
