BAGUIO CITY – The city government and the United States Agency for International Development (USAid) has intensified their clean air campaign to bring back the fresh scent of pine to this mountain resort city.
In the plan of the Energy and Clean Air Project (ECAP) is to purchase two more emission machines for the Bantay Kalinisan Task Force to detect and apprehend smoke belcher vehicles, in addition to those donated by the USAid now used by task force teams deployed in various parts of the city.
It was learned that over 2,000 apprehensions were made by the independent group since its creation, 80 percent of whom were public utility drivers.
To further improve Baguio’s air quality, the city council has approved the release of R10 million for the purchase of an air quality meter to monitor the air in areas in Baguio where vehicular emissions are high, including lower Session road, Magsaysay avenue, Harrison road, Abanao street, and Bokawkan road.
