‘Fearless Fighting’ set at Metrowalk
spacer

FEARLESS, THE most thrilling mixed martial arts event in the land, returns to centerstage on April 7 when the Fearless Fighting Championships (FFC) holds its second qualifier at the Metrowalk complex in Ortigas Center.

A banner field is expected to clash for top honors in what promises to be another action-packed evening, according to Alex Lopez, promoter and organizer of FFC. The organization was established to provide the proper venue where Filipino fighters from all disciplines can showcase their potentials and skills.

Admission is free. Fight time is set from 8 to 10 p.m.

The upcoming event actually serves as the fourth tournament for the FFC, whose first three staging, including two at the Philsports arena, proved to be blockbusters, drawing not only the mixed martial arts fight aficionados from all over but also a number of showbiz personalities and executives from the big business wanting to see live and real no-holds-barred action.

The recent Fearless event was graced by no less than Brazilian jiu-jitsu godfather Carlson Gracie Sr., his son Carlson Jr. and world champion BJ "The Prodigy" Penn.

To ensure that there would be no draws in each fight, the FFC has adopted a three-judge system. FFC is the only mixed martial arts competition, which holds three qualifiers before the main event, thus ensuring only the best and the finest fighters will slug it out in the main draw.

The event, featuring fighters from different martial arts backgrounds such as boxing, taekwondo, judo, karate, aikido, muay thai and jiu-jitsu, is also held to generate public awareness and at the same time promote mixed martial arts as a sport where Filipino fighters can excel in the international arena.

Mixed martial arts is a sport on skill, human strength, discipline and honor.

The FFC is similar to the UFC because of the use of the Octagon cage as its fighting arena.

The "Octagon," as mixed martial arts people call it, makes FFC the most exciting and realistic form of mixed martial arts competition in the country.
