The acquisition last year by Taiwan-based conglomerate BenQ Group of the mobile phone segment of Siemens (Germany) was seen as a classic case of "two heads are better than one." In this instance, it was a marriage of both East and West - combining BenQ's specialization in the field of IT & consumer electronics with the engineering and technological expertise of Siemens. The result is BenQ-Siemens, the newest name to watch out for in today's highly-competitive cellular phone market.
BenQ-Siemens phones range from the basic entry level models to the most high-tech. They are distinguished for their sleek designs and power-packed features, some of which are even ahead of the more established brands.Recently , it signed on as the official sponsor of the top-ranked football club Real Madrid and got no less than its star player Ronaldo as official product endorser. Exciting times are indeed ahead for BenQ-Siemens.

Apart from the 1.3 mp camera which seems to be standard in today's mid-level phones, the EL71 has a music player with a music cable that can be connected to a hi-fi system.
