PURVIS GRANGER, team Bowlmart and Storm staff, took the limelight in the first day of the prestigious Euro-Med Storm International Masters Challenge by posting a sixgame series of 1468 to lead all qualifier at the Pearl Bowling Center in Parañaque.

Granger rolled 225, 268, 247, 211, 277 and 240 to show the way and clinch the first semis berth.

The top two qualifiers for the day will be automatically seeded to the semis on April 8. The other slot went to Cecilia Yap, SEA games singles gold medalist and also a Storm staff. Yap rolled a 1379 series for the second high series of the day.

SEA games master’s gold medalist and another Storm staff, Liza Clutario, checked in third with 1362 while C J Suarez, World Cup champion and Roto Grip staff, wound up fourth with a 1341. The rest of the RP team will see action starting tomorrow as some of them are still in Malaysia competing in the Malaysia Open.

The Philippines will showcase its talents and hospitality as Pearl Bowling Center is once again the proud host of the fourth edition of this prestigious tournament. R1 million is at stake for the champion. Bowlers such as Tim Mack (world bowler of the year), Diandra Asbaty (US national champion), Shalin Zulkifli (world and Asia bowler of the year), Kimmo Lehoten (ranked no. 1 in the world), and bowling icon Paeng Nepomuceno are all confirmed to participate in the EuroMed Storm Challenge.

Professional bowlers from Korea, Malaysia, Guam, Chinese Taipei, and the host country will slug it out on the 36 lane center until April 9.

Chester King will defend his title. Yap is also leading the Bevida-Storm Challenge with a six-game series of 1349. She is trailed by Jessica Jopson’s 1297 and Wanda Teer’s 1289. All three bowlers are member of PBAP, the home association. The champion stands to earn R100,000.

The top 24 will qualify into the finals which will be held on April 5. Both tournaments are sponsored by EuroMed Laboratories, Bevida, Storm, Roto Grip, Dynothane, Wave, Manila Hotel, Pearl Bowling Center, Manila Bulletin and Kegel Asia.
