True character builder
This is a beautiful story of a school that love built… a dainty school in Dagupan City which has dramatically multiplied and grown into 12 high quality centers of child development, grade and secondary education in Northern and Southern Luzon and the National Capital Region in Metro Manila, now one of the top pre-schools, grade schools and high schools throughout the islands.
BUILDER OF CHARACTER

Students at the Mother Goose Special School System | | The birth of Mother Goose Playskool (MGP) is a shining truth and testament to the proverbial definition of a school as "the character of man, the soul of mankind." Mother Goose is a builder of character. Believing that education is next to God as the most important element of life, the school is a firm advocate of childhood’s varied aspects of growth which should not be hurried nor minimized; it is not even a mere preparation for later school or life but a vital part of life itself to be lived richly each day."
Mother Goose further believes that the home and the school are mutual partners in educating each and every individual. Its mission statement is "to provide an enriching and challenging educational environment where each child is encouraged to grow to his or her fullest potential socially, physically, emotionally, academically and spiritually. Through the dynamic partnership of child, parent and teacher, a consistent Montessori-Piagetian-Open Classroom framework for learning is developed, offering an "Education for life."
Such was the education philosophy, the dream-school idea nurtured and shared by the late Dr. Luis F. Samson, founder-chancellor of the University of Luzon, and his beloved wife, Josefa Mendoza-Samson who died on March 27, 1972.
The dream soon became a concrete reality in June 1972 inspired by the boundless love for Mrs. Samson that guided the hand of Dr. Samson with US-schooled daughters Aurora and Gloria, who immediately converted a two-hectare property in Barangays Malued and Tapuac in Dagupan City into the Mother Goose Playskool.
The Mother Goose Playskool in Dagupan City was the precursor of an imposing Mother Goose Special Science High School on the same campus and 13 more branches including outreach learning centers in various cities and towns in Pangasinan, Batangas and the National Capital Region (NCR).
With the establishment of Mother Goose, Dr. Samson recalled daughters Aurora Samson-Reyna and Gloria Samson-Beltran from the United States where they were pursuing post graduate studies in New York. Mother Goose Playskool’s first 41 pupils in Nursery, Kindergarten and Prep classes dramatically increased and had its first graduates in 1978-1979.
Mother Goose Grade School – Dagupan City was awarded as the most effective elementary school by the Department of Education, Culture and Sports (DECS) with most of its pupils topping the academic competitions not only in the division but also in the regional level and at times even in the national level.
In 1978, its first special science high school opened its doors with Mrs. Aurora M. Samson-Reyna as its first principal during its first year of operation. Thereafter, Mrs. Gertrudes Cuison—Samson, wife of Dr. MacArthur M. Samson, the eldest among the living Samson siblings and newly installed President of the University of Luzon assumed the directorship of the school from 1980 to the present. Mother Goose Special Science High School made quite a splash of a record with an inaugural 100 percent passing mark in the National College Entrance Exams with a median score of 96-99 percent. It ranked No. 4 among all high schools nationwide successively in 1991 and 1992. In 1993, it landed No. 3 among the country’s best high schools all over the Philippines.
BRANCH SCHOOLS AND OUTREACH EDUCATIONAL CENTERS
In 1976, Mother Goose Playskool in Pasig City headed by Mrs. Gloria Beltran herself was opened. In 1987-1988, it had its first elementary graduates and ranked one of the Top Five Schools in the Division of Pasig, San Juan and Mandaluyong based on the National Elementary Achievement Test (NEAT) in 2000. At about this time, MGP Pasig has launched its Special Education Program for children with learning disabilities, run by teachers with more academic preparation and "hands-on" training under Michelle Camina Beltran, who is now director of a new branch in Lipa City, Batangas.
In 1981, the Mother Goose Daycare Center in Dagupan City named Doña Josefa Mendoza-Samson Day Care opened its doors to the poor and less privileged. All enjoying free education, which is a fulfillment of her vision, these children excel in the school’s Montessori-Piagetian-Open Classroom environment.
In 1985, two more branches in Urdaneta City and Bayambang, Pangasinan were opened.
In 1994, the Mother Goose Playskool in Matiwasay at the UP Village in Quezon City opened and is run by Marlo Beltran-Calimlim and husband Jay Calimlim. Marlo had a 5-year teaching stint at MGP Pasig handling language, math and cultural studies. On record, its graduates are among the top students of Ateneo, Miriam, Poveda, Claret and Holy Spirit schools.
In 1997, Danielle Beltran-Arellano, assisted by husband Vincent Arellano, opened the Mother Goose Playskool and Grade School in Marikina City.
From 1998 to 2005, the school has unceasingly expanded sustaining and upholding quality education in these parts.
The following were established in succession: Mother Goose Playskool and Grade School in San Pedro, San Carlos City, Pangasinan; Mother Goose Playskool and Grade School Internationale owned and managed by Niño and Michelle Beltran in Lipa City; Mother Goose Playskool Inc., in Salcedo, Makati City managed by Vincent and Danielle Arellano, and in 2004, an outreach school, Mary Queen of Peace Day Care Center in Montalban, Rizal followed by the Jaime Cardinal Sin Learning Center in Sta. Ana, Manila in 2005.
Ms. Danielle Arellano said that "in short span of 34 years, Mother Goose has not only grown in terms of enrolment and the number of branches but more so, consistently maintained the high quality of education if offers."
Because of its emphasis, mission, vision and commitment to quality education as an advocacy and the holistic development of a child as a great asset of the community and the world – the Mother Goose Playskool and Grade School integrating its Special Science High Schools was renamed Mother Goose Special School System, Inc. in 2001. With this new development, MGSSSI has come up with an expansion program of its physical facilities as well as the continuing enrichment of its curriculum carefully focused on the child’s total development. Thus, MGSSSI is a leading private school system of choice for children and youngsters driven by excellence and the commitment to contribute to the advancement of the self and society.
