‘Eat Bulaga’ flies high in Cebu!

By WALDEN SADIRI

The heat may be scorching last March 25 but the crowd that filled the seats of the Cebu City Sports Center didn’t mind it at all. They came early, waited and stayed for the country’s No. 1 noontime show "Eat Bulaga" which was having a live telecast from their hometown that day.

Everybody from the pillar hosts of "EB," Sen. Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon were present. Other popular hosts of "EB" baking under the sun to give the Cebuanos a grand time were Janno Gibs, Michael V, Francis M, Anjo Yllana, Allan K, Teri Onor, Jimmy Santos, Ruby Rodriguez, Keempee de Leon, Wally and Jose, Ciara Sotto, Lana, Sugar, Julia Clarette and Pauleen Luna.

The highlight of the afternoon was the Blue Team versus the Yellow Team in which both teams added Cebuanos for their respective arsenals. Blue Team won and they decided to give their cash prize to their Blue Team Cebuano members.

The consolation prize that Yellow Team earned was also given to their Cebuano counterparts. But what became the afternoon’s focal point was "Laban O Bawi" wherein Ellamei Inot didn’t falter in her decision to choose "Laban" and eventually going home with P1 million!

Expecting a huge crowd, (it was reported by a local newspaper that in attendance were more than 10,000), security was tight. There were 250 securities set-up around the stage and the backstage maintaining order. Moreover, bouncers were situated just outside the tent of the artists. If an artist would use one of the portable toilets, a bouncer, with an umbrella at hand would automatically escort him or her.

"Eat Bulaga: Live in Cebu" is just the beginning of the provincial tour that the No. 1 noontime show is planning for the summer of 2006. Other cities targeted are Davao, Bacolod, Iloilo to mention a few. Another live telecast in Cebu is also being mapped out by people behind the show. Like in Cebu, this is just one way of "Eat Bulaga" giving back to their provincial viewers and fans for consistently supporting them through the years.
