World Health Day: The Dignity and Value of Working Together for Health
HERE are many things in our life that we are hardly ever aware of but the moment they are gone, we feel their absence. Health is one of those things and its importance can never be over-emphasized. It is an asset greater than wealth, fame, and position in society, as the saying goes, "If health is lost, everything is lost.’’

Press freedom & Proclamation 1017
ON February 24, 2006 the President of the Philippines issued Proclamation No. 1017 declaring a state of national emergency and an accompanying General Order No. 5 which are both incorporated herewith by reference.

THIS week, media has a field day quoting its favorite news sources on diverse issues of the day. The remarks were not only arresting and provocative but laden with double meanings and insinuations, thus, inviting repartees.
Bea loves John Lloyd
BOX office success Close To You is a love story through and through. Marian (Bea Alonzo) is madly in love with pop singer Lance (Sam Milby). Lance loves her in return. Nuel (John Lloyd Cruz), a childhood friend of Marian, knows that the love he secretly harbors for Marian is more than platonic. He also loves photography with a passion. Marian discovers at the end that she loves Nuel also more than a friend. Lance pines for his father who is separated from his mother.
Meditation
TRANSCENDENTAL meditation was popularized by a Harvard professor who found that there were physical positive effects in staying in quiet concentration in a conducive physical position like in sitting down yoga cross-legged, or kneeling down, or even standing up with arms up raised. It has positive effects on blood pressure and general health, especially when done on a regular basis. The effort of the quiet is to transcend or burst out of normal earthly consciousness.

THE Jews... picked up rocks to stone Jesus. Jesus answered them, "I have shown you many good works from My Father. For which of these are you trying to stone Me?" The Jews answered Him, "We are not stoning You for a good work but for blasphemy. You, a Man, are making Yourself God." Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, "You are gods" If it calls them gods to whom the word of God came, and scripture cannot be set aside, can you say that the one whom the Father has consecrated and sent into the world blasphemes because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’? If I do not perform my Father’s works do not believe Me; but if I perform them, even if you do not believe Me, believe the works, so that you may realize [and understand] that the Father is in Me and I am in the Father." [Then] they tried again to arrest Him; but He escaped from their power.
Emergency measures
THE Senate, House of Representatives, the Judiciary, and the Presidency are all components of our country’s democracy with governance together with and over the citizenry. Our democratic state can only survive if there is unity with one and all others of those components. For members of the Senate or those of the House, for that matter, to launch on President Arroyo’s 59th birthday a nationwide campaign to force her out of office is unseemly. It is clear that their campaign is directed to the people to overthrow the President not through a proper legal means such as by impeachment charges to be initiated by the people through their representatives. Campaigning to people all over the country to force the President to step out of her office is tantamount to a form of sedition.
