The new range of digital cameras and camcorders has something for everyone. New additions to the IXUS and PowerShot range now sport ISO 800 for better pictures in low light situations. The new EOS 30D takes a quantum leap from its highly successful predecessor EOS 20D, by including features that used to be available only in top-end EOS DSLRs.

Canon’s range of Digital IXUS (IXUS 800 IS, 65 and 60) and PowerShot (PowerShot S3 IS, A700, A540 and A530) compact cameras all feature ISO 800 capability for stable low-light shooting. They even have a special low light setting just to capture fireworks.

The top seed at the launch was the EOS 30D, which raised the benchmark for digital SLR cameras.  The highly anticipated successor of EOS 20D, comes with top line improvements. They include a rugged new fast shutter fully rated up to 100,000 cycles, an enlarged 2.5 inch 230,000-pixel LCD monitor which has a 170-degree viewing angle and LED-backlight for improved visibility. It also features Picture Style settings, found previously in higher end EOS cameras only. Picture Style are presets that offer distinctly different color response, similar to how different types of film achieve different effects with adjustable sharpness, contrasts, color tone and color saturation.

The high-value Canon ZR500 / ZR600 / ZR700 and Elura100 offer optical zoom of up to 18x and 25x. While they are all dedicated camcorders; they are also capable of taking still images. With their electronic image stabilizer to virtually eliminate camera shake and Canon’s advanced DIGIC DV imaging processor, images are captured at optimal quality. 

In addition, Canon’s new offering sync seamlessly with its expanding range of gallery-quality photo printers that allow users to print directly from the camera, and do color retouching right on the camera’s LCD screen, without the need to connect to a PC.
