Gamers, who intently played the first and second versions of Devil May Cry, will enjoy (in my opinion) the third version. I personally favor the first version of the game, although this prequel is very satisfying as well.
The main story of the game started a thousand years ago with a demon warrior named Sparda, who raised his sword against his own unholy world to save the human race. This demon joined the human world and fathered Dante, a half-human and half-demon man who devoted himself in defeating the forces of evil. In this third sequel, Dante meets his twin brother, Vergil. Vergil, contrary to his twin brother, walks in the ways of his sinister ancestors. As the two brothers with complicated beliefs meet, more secrets and more characters will be revealed.
Players will now control Dante, owner of an investigative agency called the "Devil May cry". Again, gamers will now be able to enjoy the intensive graphics and sound effects, the cool, action-packed moves of Dante, and the gore monsters that'll surprise your every step.
The main objective of the game is still the same, and that is to finish your missions until you get to the last boss. All throughout the game, you get to upgrade your items, your weapons, and your moves like before. Collecting the red orbs is still important for upgrades so be on the lookout for hidden orbs. There will be additional items to collect and of course, new weapons.
There are several fighting styles for players to upgrade and learn. You will have a choice which style you want Dante to learn more. The first style is the Trickster. In this style, you get to learn evasive tricks and you get to learn quick and agile moves during combat. Some of these moves are the Wall Hike, done for evading enemies by dashing up on walls, and the Dash, for running at high speed in any direction. In my experience of playing, I usually don't upgrade this style, and that is evidently the cause why I found the game hard to beat. The Gunslinger is the second style and an upgrade that's to my liking. This style is for those players who prefer fighting in long-range battles. Some of the moves are the Fireworks, which lets gamers blast enemies away by swinging a shotgun around; the Twosome Time allows Dante to shoot in two different directions; the Rain Storm, a cool move that lets you face straight down from mid-air and rain down a shower of bullets on enemies below. I found this style very useful for defeating a crowd of monsters. The last style is the Swordmaster. As the title of the style says, you get to master the skills of your sword. Upgrading these skills is definitely worthwhile seeing that sword attacks do greater dame than guns. There are also several cool moves in this style: the Aerial Rave, a sword attack unleashed while in mid-air; the Sword Pierce, a move which allows players to actually throw the sword a enemies; the Prop Shredder, one of the coolest move that lets you spin your blade at high speed and shred your enemies to bits.
I generally enjoyed playing all of the versions of Devil May Cry and I think gamers out there did too. Devil May Cry 3 is certainly a game full of action and surprises that will definitely keep players at the edge of their seats.
